I have wanted to have the courage to do a big chop for a looooong time. Even though I have been natural for my entire life, I have still experienced heat damage, recently color damage, and just in general the desire to do something different. After chopping off my locs, it has been such an amazing and interesting journey. It is a great time for experimentation and I finally got the courage to scratch that baldie itch.
It all started after I went on vacation for my birthday to Punta Cana and Atlanta. I got my hair straightened while visiting the latter and the aftermath was not very pretty. You can see some of my previous posts on heat damage. So since I hated how it was feeling in general and looking when not styled, I convinced myself I was ready to chop it off. But I wanted to have a little fun with it first! So I got it dyed blonde and rocked that a couple weeks before dyeing it green myself. I left that in for about another week and then came the big day! You can see the actual cut on my youtube channel here:
Let me just say, this has been the single most freeing and just dope experiences in my life! I cut it myself at home and then went to the barbershop right afterwards to get it shaved and shaped.
I absolutely LOVE it. What do yall think?
Have you ever had a baldie?
What made you do the big chop?
